Product Description
Brupaks Brewers Choice, Czech Pilsner, 40 pint beer kit
Brupaks Brewer's Choice are unique in that they are the first dried ingredient kits that don't require boiling. The kits are comprised of first-grade, spray-dried malt extract, freshly crushed grains, pre isomerised hop pellets and genuine brewer's yeast. As the hops have already been isomerised (alpha acids, the bittering substances in hops, are insoluble until they have been boiled in wort for at least 20 minutes) all that is neccessary to release their biterness and flavour is to steep them in hot water for a few minutes.
The Brewer's Choice range covers most of the world's major beer styles and are both fun and rewarding to brew. They are highly recommended for those wanting to get a bit more involved in the brewing process.
Instructions:
A beautiful golden lager with a full-bodied, malty backround and a pronounced hop character derived from genuine Czech Saaz hops.
There are two reasons for calling this fantastic and innovative new range of beer kits 'Brewer's Choice'. Firstly, they contain the choicest ingredients - first grade spray-dried malt extract, fresh hops and grains and genuine brewing yeast - secondly, the brewer is given three choices of ingredient to complete the kit. The choices for Czech Pilsner are:
1. Sugar 1kg. This will produce a light-bodied beer with a pronounced hop character. Original Gravity 1.048-1.050
2. Spray-Dried Malt Extract 1 kg - Extra Light. This will produce a beer with more body and a maltier profile, hops are still in evidence though. Original Gravity 1.048-1.050
3. Brupaks Premium Grade Malt Extract 1.5kg - Light. This method produces a truly commercial quality beer with a fuller body and a higher alcohol content, although this choice will slightly darken the beer. Original Gravity 1.052-1.054.
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Ensure that all equipment is clean and sterile before use. Use Brupaks Bruclean for best results.
2. Place the BruBags of hops and grains into a clean saucepan and cover with 2 litres (one kettle) of boiling water. Leave for 20 minutes then pour the liquid into your fermenting vessel.
3. Repeatstep2.
4. Repeat step 2 and discard BruBags.
5. Add the bag of malt extract to the fermenting vessel and stir until dissolved using a sterilised spoon. Add your chosen ingredient from the list above (if using a can of extract, heat it first by placing the unopened can in boiling water for 15 minutes - it will then pour easier. Use more boiling water to rinse out any remaining extract from the can). Top up with cold (preferably filtered) water to 5 gallons (23 litres) and stir vigorously for five minutes to oxygenate. Check that the temperature of the liquid is between 20°C and 25°C then pour in the yeast and stir again briefly.
6. Cover the fermenter and place where it can be left undisturbed at room temperature (18°C - 22°C). After 5 to 7 days fermentation should be over. Siphon into another vessel (preferably one with an airlock) and stir gently . After 2 days your beer will be ready for bottling/barrelling. Siphon into bottles primed with sugar (1A teaspoon per pint) or a keg primed with 100 grams of the same. Place your beer in a warm place for 7 days then transfer to somewhere cool fora further 7 days.
TEA BAG TECHNOLOGY
The BruBag is like a large tea bag. It allows the flavour of the hops and grains to 'flood out' without any messy straining. The Brewer's Choice range of beer kits uses Tea Bag Technology to incorporate fresh roasted and caramel grains and aromatic hops.
